Batman: Arkham City Review

Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite PlayStation 3 games I’ve played. So, I was looking forward to the sequel, Arkham City. The game has stellar voice acting led by Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, who played Luke Sykwalker in the Star Wars movies. Unlike Arkham Asylum, Arkham City is open world and free roam. This presents the opportunity for many side missions, bonus objectives, and hidden Riddler trophies to collect. Collecting all of the Riddler trophies will seem almost impossible without a gaming guide. Batman earns new unlockable gadgets and combat moves as the player earns XP throughout the game. As Batman, you will engage in high-impact brawls with enemies or go the stealth way and hide in the dark as you pick off enemies one by one. As the game progresses, enemies will start to carry armor and weapons such as guns and knives. With all of its content, Arkham City will give you hours and hours of enjoyment.

The game has many villains to encounter, such as The Joker, Hugo Strange, Two-Face, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Riddler, and Poison Ivy. In addition to playing as Batman, you can also play as Catwoman in four of her own missions in the campaign mode. This was an exciting change of pace as you travel through Arkham City with her whip, gadgets, and combat moves. You can also play as Robin and Nightwing in the challenge maps if you purchase them as download content. The story telling of Batman: Arkham City is phenomenal and draws you in like one of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies.

9.5/10
