PlayStation Network News – Software Update 4.30, Halloween Sale & More

The latest PlayStation 3 system software update version 4.30 is now live and available for all users to download. With this update, users can now view their PlayStation Vita trophies on the PS3. The Trophy Collection will now be located under the PlayStation Network category instead of the Game category. You can now sort games in the trophy collection by title and update date. There is also a new option where you can switch modes between online and offline mode. Online mode allows you to "view trophy information on the server." Offline mode allows you to "view trophy information saved on this system." The 4.30 update will also remove the Life with PlayStation application. Life helped contribute to Stanford University's Folding@home distributed computing network by providing dynamic, web-based content organized into unique channels that could be browsed by time and location.

Key offerings in the latest PlayStation Store Tuesday update:

• PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Beta
• The Unfinished Swan - $14.99
• Killzone HD - $14.99
• Frobisher Says! (Vita) - Free
• Medal of Honor Warfighter – PS Plus exclusive timed trial (60 Minutes)

The PSN Halloween sale is still active through Oct. 30. There are a lot of good deals here, especially with a PS Plus subscription.

Game	PSN Sale Price	Plus Sale Price
Dead Space 2	$13.99	$9.79
Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection: Content Pack	$10.49	$7.34
Dead Rising 2 Off The Record	$13.99	$9.79
Plants vs. Zombies PS Vita	$10.49	$7.34
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City	$34.99	$24.49
Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack	$5.59	$3.91
The House of the Dead Bundle	$21.99	$15.39
Zen Pinball 2 PS Vita Monsters Bundle (The Paranormal, Sorcerer’s Lair and Plants vs. Zombies)	$5.99	$4.19
AMY	$4.99	$2.50
Costume Quest complete bundle	$7.49	$3.75
Dead Nation	$7.49	$3.75
Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime	$2.49	$1.25
inFAMOUS Festival of Blood	$4.99	$2.50

I would personally recommend Dead Space 2, Black Ops DLC, Plants vs. Zombies (Vita), Dead Nation, and inFamous Festival of Blood. I think Festival of Blood is a must buy at just $2.50 if you are an inFamous fan. AMY at $2.50 also caught my interest, but it has received a lot of bad reviews and I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

Also, be sure to watch the new PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale short film, “The All-Star”, featuring Kratos, Nathan Drake, Cole MacGrath, and Sackboy.

Some PlayStation Links I Have Found Useful

This is just a few links that I have found useful and wanted to let others know about if they haven’t already.

Batman: Arkham City Review

This is my first official gaming review. I chose to do it on Batman: Arkham City, which is one of my favorites and I have been playing a lot of it recently.

Product Recommendation: PlayStation Vita

I recommended the PlayStation Vita in this blog post. I discussed the features, games, and more.

Product Recommendation: PlayStation Vita

I would like to recommend the PlayStation Vita. At first I was hesitant on getting the Vita because I have not owned a portable gaming system since the GameBoy Color. I also thought it was more for little kids. However, as more information was released about the Vita, my interest increased. For one, it has dual analog sticks instead of the just one that the PSP had. It has a beautiful 5-inch OLED screen that is multi-touch. It also has Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity. I heard that it would be just like a portable PlayStation 3 in your hands.

As for Vita games, Uncharted: Golden Abyss was the first game I wanted to play since I am a big fan of the Uncharted franchise.  Another cool feature of the Vita is cross play. With MLB: The Show 12, players can save files between the PS3 and Vita via the PlayStation Network. This gives the ability to sync your Season saves so that you can continue on both the PS3 and Vita.

There are also apps that you can download for the Vita, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Skype, and Flickr. Select PSP games are also available to download on the Vita. Sony has recently given the Vita a software update that gives it the ability to play select PlayStation One games on the Vita. Sony will also bring the PlayStation Plus service to the Vita in November which provides an instant free game collection, discounts, cloud storage, and automatic updates. Besides that to look forward to, upcoming new releases such as Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified and Assassin’s Creed: Liberation will sure to be big sellers.

You can buy the PlayStation Vita at Amazon.
